On Monday, October 23rd, the Agonis Club of Columbus sponsored their “Basketball Tipoff Event” at the Schottenstein Center. Part of the event included an opportunity to watch the team practice. As part of that practice, there were sessions where players played 5-on-5 against each other. In the corner of the court, there was a list of “teams” which set forth the organization for these practice drills. Here is what was printed on the board:
1 – CJ – Kam – JT – KBD – MP
2 – JT – AD – MJ – AW – Kaleb
3 – AD – CT – JT – KY – KBD
4 – DH – NJ – AB – KY – MP
Is this is a possible indication of what the starting lineup will look like? Or, is it just a random list of players put into groups for purposes of practice only?
If it is a foreshadowing of the starting lineup, then here is what that Starting Lineup would be:
CJ Jackson – Point Guard
Kam Williams – Shooting Guard
Jae’Sean Tate – Small Forward
Keita Bates-Diop – Strong Forward
Micah Potter – Center
Continuing this line of thought, it is interesting to look at the second team with Jae’Sean Tate moving to point guard and Andrew Dakich getting a lot of playing time as the second team shooting guard. The Freshman from Bloomington, Indiana, Musa Jallow, appears to be the first substitute at Small Forward when Jae’Sean Tate moves to Point Guard. Another Freshman, and new recruit, Kaleb Wesson, would be the replacement at Center when Micah Potter needs a rest or gets into
foul trouble. Kaleb is listed in the Roster as a Forward, but he is 6’ 9” and 270 pounds, so it appears he will have the physicality to play the Center position when needed. Kaleb’s brother, Andre Wesson, would be the second string Strong Forward.
During the Question & Answer portion of the event, one of the Agonis Club members in attendance asked Coach Chris Holtmann to provide the Starting Lineup. There was no definitive answer coming from the coach, so this listing above should not be considered definite.
